It’s been almost a year since I moved to Minnesota and started working at MinnPost! While it’s an old cliche to say that time flies, in this case, time didn’t just fly, it zoomed by!
This year, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with people from many different walks of life, from volunteers engaged in harm reduction in the Twin Cities to those who shared their experiences of preeclampsia. It takes an incredible amount of trust to speak with a reporter you just met, and every time I post about my stories, I take time to thank the people who generously shared their time and insights with me.
The wonderful thing about MinnPost is that these insights don’t stop with me, or any other reporter. We listen, ask questions and write up these insights with valuable context to make them available online to you. It’s a kind of gift – the gift of someone else’s perspective. Someone who you may have passed in the street, but never had the chance or time to talk to, or someone who lives in a different part of Minnesota, who’s had a very different experience from your own.
And because MinnPost believes in people understanding each other and the systems and structures around us, from local government and city planning to what’s going on in arts and entertainment — we provide our journalism to you for free.
Will you help us keep giving the gift of perspective and insights from all over Minnesota with a gift of your own?
