Star Tribune reports Minnesota has reported 2,324 cases of whooping cough this year, the highest number since 2012. “Health officials expected the spike because the disease peaks every three to five years. Whooping cough cases are increasing across the country, signaling a return to more typical trends seen before a drop-off of many contagious illnesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

WCCO interviewed Gov. Tim Walz following his failed vice presidential run and the governor said he hasn’t made a decision running for a third term. “I’ve always said the decision to do that is really driven more by the people as they start to see if there’s a desire in the direction we’re going. If we see the support is there, then I would listen,” Walz said.

Duluth News Tribune reports the famous ruby red slippers from “The Wizard of Oz” have sold at an auction for $24 million.

Fox9 reports fencing has gone up around the UnitedHealthcare offices in Minnetonka as a manhunt continues for the person who killed CEO Brian Thompson.

Via MPR: “So far this year, the (Minneapolis) mayor has vetoed five actions and has vowed to nix a sixth action passed by the council Thursday. When that happens, he will have vetoed 16 actions since he first took office in 2018. That’s more vetoes than the previous two mayors combined.”
